Algeria beat Somalia 3-0 away in the qualifying tournament for the 2026 World Cup and qualified for the final tournament.
The goals were scored by Mohamed Amour (6th, 57th minute) and Riyad Mahrez (19th).
The Algerian team finished earlier than expected in qualifying group G, scoring 22 points in 9 matches. The Ugandan team placed second (18). For the World Cup, which will be held in USAMexico and Canada from June 11 to July 19, 2026, the winners of each group will advance and the top four runners-up will play in the play-offs.
The Algerian national team has become the twentieth team to secure participation in the World Cup. Previously, Mexican national teams had the right to participate in the tournament, USACanada (all host countries), as well as teams from Japan, Iran, South Korea, Jordan, Australia, Uzbekistan, New Zealand, Argentina, Ecuador, Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay, Paraguay, Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt.
