Zenit footballer Glushenkov: “What happened in the Russian Cup is not very scary. Championship comes first”

St. Petersburg Zenit striker Maxim Glushenkov said that it is not difficult for him to switch from the Russian Cup to RPL matches, since the Russian Championship is his priority.

On Wednesday, Zenit lost to Dynamo Moscow with a score of 1:3 in the first match of the quarter finals of the RPL Path. The return game will take place on November 27 in Moscow. On Sunday, Sergei Semak’s team will play with “Wings of the Soviets” in Samara in the match of the 15th round of the RPL.

— How would you rate your moral and physical condition and teams?

– Everything is fine. The team is practically injury-free. There are some microdamages in some football players, but we’ll hang on.

— You used to play in “Wings”. Are matches against the Samara team something special for you?

— From the group in which I played, a couple of people remained. But I always have a positive attitude.

— Is it easy to switch from the Cup to the Championship?

— What happened in the Cup is not very scary. Firstly, this is the first game. Secondly, there is a second chance. And the championship comes first for me personally.

“Wings haven’t won for a long time, and this is their first home match after an away series. Why is such an opponent dangerous?

— “Wings” started very well at the beginning of the season, but then something went wrong. A home game will cost a lot, especially since Zenit is coming.

— The end of the first round is approaching. How can you assess Zenit’s performance in the championship?

– If we are not in first place, then it’s not very good yet. There are four games before the end of the year where we can turn things around and come out on top.

— Over the last couple of months you have received many personal awards, but you reacted calmly to them. Or do you already know your level of play without them?

– I know without them, of course. But still happy.

— Previously, the intermediate finish was judged at the end of the first round, now it is customary to sum up the preliminary results after the last autumn round. Or is the championship equator a significant feature?

— If you look at the table, then in terms of points it is not very significant now. We’ll see at the end of May,” a Match TV correspondent quotes Glushenkov as saying.
