Russian goalkeeper of the Norwegian football club Bodø-Glimt Nikita Khaikin he will be happy if he is invited to the Norwegian national team to participate in the 2026 World Cup. He told the NRK television channel.
Earlier, the Sport Baza Telegram channel reported that Khaikin refused to play for the Russian national team in favor of the Norwegian team.
“If the Norwegian team thinks I can help them, and I can, then that would be great,” Haykin said. “They have a fantastic squad with great players in every position. It would be an honour.”
Haykin is 30 years old and born in Israel. The goalkeeper has been playing for Norway’s Bodø-Glimt since 2019 and is a four-time national champion. Previously, Haykin played for Israeli clubs Bnei Yehuda and Hapoel Kfar Sava. In 2023 he moved to English Bristol City, but did not play a single match, after which he returned to Bodø-Glimt.
