Moscow football club Dynamo did not pay a penalty to the team’s former coach Valery Karpin, as he left his post of his own free will. The general director of the blue and white Pavel Pivovarov told journalists.

Karpin left his position as Dynamo’s head coach on 17 November. He explained his decision by the desire to concentrate on work in the Russian national team. The interim coach of the blue and white is Rolan Gusev.

“Karpin expressed his desire to leave the club, this happened on Monday, everything was formalized quickly, everyone knew about it. Penalty? The coach’s decision, what could be the penalty,” Pivovarov said.

“I talked a lot with Valery Georgievich. You’d better ask him questions, about his decision. I think there were prerequisites for this, there were many factors. The decision was completely unexpected; they expected him to come back and prepare the team,” added the Dynamo general director.

In the first match after Karpin’s departure, Dynamo Moscow in the 16th round of the World Cup – Russian Premier League beat Dynamo Makhachkala with the score 3:0. The team from the capital scored 20 points and rose to 9th place in the standings.
