Russian PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov said that he became interested in listening to audiobooks on the road.

On Wednesday, PSG will play away against Athletic Bilbao in the sixth round match of the general stage of the Champions League.

– Good day everyone! Today we are on our way to Spain for tomorrow’s Champions League match. So I decided to tell you about my new hobby on the road.

A couple of weeks ago I caught myself thinking that I was already tired of playing the same music on repeat in the car.

So a strong-willed decision was made to touch the world of audiobooks.

In two weeks I listened to Pushkin’s “Eugene Onegin” and Dostoevsky’s “The Gambler” (I especially recommend the second).

I once started reading The Gambler in paper format, but abandoned it. Now I understand that I was stupid, because the work really captivated me. Towards the end, I walked around and spat for a couple of days because of the main character’s decisions, until I finally let go.

Now I started Crime and Punishment. I decided to close the gestalt, because my knowledge is limited only to a general knowledge of the plot, and with such a work it’s impossible to leave it like that.

Let’s see if this turns into a new hobby. But for now, after training, I go to the car as briskly as possible, naturally, for a new chapter,” Safonov wrote in his Telegram channel.

Safonov moved to PSG from Krasnodar in July 2024. On Saturday, the Russian played his first match for the Parisians this season, keeping a clean sheet against Rennes (5:0) in the 15th round of the French championship.
