Charity football tournament in support of the former Russian and Moscow national team player CSKA Eugenia Aldonina took place in Moscow. This was reported by the press service CSKA.
Earlier, the press service of the Russian Premier League reported that Aldonin was suffering from a serious illness. As TASS learned, Aldonin was diagnosed with stomach cancer.
Aldonin’s friends and former players took part in the tournament CSKA. After the matches, a charity auction was held: all the money raised will be donated to the care of the former footballer.
“Dear friends, I am currently in Germany for treatment. I am incredibly grateful to each of you who took part in the tournament, thank you very much. This is of great importance for my loved ones and for me, I hug everyone, I respect everyone. I hope that with your support I will definitely be able to cope with everything, the most important thing is: take care of your family and friends,” Aldonin said in a video message to the tournament participants.
Aldonin is 45 years old. He argued CSKA from 2004 to 2013. The midfielder played 315 matches for the club in various tournaments, scoring 13 goals and providing 17 assists. Together with the capital club, he won the Russian Cup five times (2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2011), won the national Super Cup four times (2004, 2006, 2007, 2009), became Russian champion twice (2005, 2006) and won the Cup in 2005 of UEFA. This victory was the first for Russian clubs in European competitions.
Before moving to CSKA Aldonin defended the colors of Volgograd “Rotor”, after leaving the army club he played for Saransk “Mordovia”, Nizhny Novgorod “Volga” and Krasnogorsk “Zorkiy”. With the Russian national team he played 29 games, in which he scored 1 assist. As part of it, he took part in the 2004 European Championship.
