Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola said that the team’s players who returned from the Christmas weekend with excess weight will not play in the 18th round match of the English Championship against Nottingham Forest.

The meeting will take place on December 27 in West Bridgford. Guardiola said City players weighed themselves before the 3-0 win at West Ham and will next step on the scales in their first training session after Christmas.

“They can eat, but I want to control them.” Imagine if a football player, who is now ideal, arrives three kilograms overweight. Then he will stay in Manchester and will not go to the game with Nottingham Forest,” the BBC quotes Guardiola.

Manchester City is second in the Premier League standings with 37 points, Nottingham Forest (18) is 17th.
