Stankovic about working in Russia: “I was worried about the judges. I don’t like injustice, it threw me off my rhythm.”

Red Star head coach Dejan Stankovic explained the reasons for his emotional behavior while working in Russia.

On Monday, Red Star announced the return of the 47-year-old Serbian specialist to the post of head coach. In November, Stankovic left Spartak Moscow. The Serb has worked for the Russian club since the summer of 2024 and failed to win a single trophy with the team.

“A lot happened to me too. I hope I have changed for the better. I became more experienced, more prepared and calmer.

Now you will say, of course, that this was not visible in Russia, but then I was worried about the judges. I don’t like injustice, I played football not cricket, it threw me off my rhythm.

As for the locker room, there will be nothing unusual. I don’t have to write the players off, they can handle it themselves if they don’t train.

Spartak is a big club, but I can’t measure it with emotions. A house is a house, a “Star” is a “Star”. Here at home, everything is different. These emotions, love, cannot be measured, I cannot compare them,” Sportinjo quotes Stankovic as saying.

In September, Stankovic was disqualified for one month in all competitions under the auspices of the Russian Football Union (RFU) for insulting the head referee in the eighth round match of the MIR RPL with Dynamo Moscow. In May, the Serb was disqualified for three matches of the Russian Cup for insulting the referees in a game with Rostov.

Bulykin named the position that Spartak needs to strengthen

Former Russian national football player Dmitry Bulykin expressed his opinion on how Spartak could strengthen during the winter window.

What kind of player does Spartak need in the winter transfer window? First of all, another goalscoring striker. They are already in a good position and can fight for the championship, but due to the atmosphere in the team there were disagreements.

Now we need a good coach who unites them with a single goal and task. If I were in Spartak, I would find another goalscoring striker in the winter and fight for the championship.

Amorim explains Casemiro’s surprise substitution against Newcastle

Mentor Manchester United Reuben Amorim he said he replaced the midfielder Casemiro during the 1–0 win over Newcastle United because he felt the Brazilian would “struggle” with the intensity of the second half.

Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte formed United’s midfield duo in the absence of Bruno Fernandes, who missed the match with a hamstring injury, but Amorim replaced the Brazilian with Leni Yoro in the 61st minute.

After seeing his number on the substitution board, Casemiro pointed to himself and was disappointed with Amorim’s decision to replace him so early in the match.

Asked to explain Casemiro’s substitution, Amorim replied: “At that moment I didn’t want to shoot [Матеуса] Cunho because he is the only one who allows us to be creative and I put him in position number 10. Jack [Флетчер] it was fresh and could continue, Manu [Угарте] he was cooler than Casemiro. In the end we decided to replace him because they were making a lot of quick passes and I felt that at that point he would have difficulty.”
