The Moscow football club “Spartak” is not suitable for promoting little-known coaches and should work with those who demonstrate concrete results. This is the opinion expressed by the former red and white midfielder Valery Gladilin.

Previously inside Average there was information that Juan Carlos Carcedo is the main candidate for the position of head coach of Spartak. The club announced his departure Dejan Stankovic from the head coach position on November 11. Vadim Romanov was the interim coach of the red and whites until the end of the first part of the season.

“I have no idea who Juan Carcedo is or what his achievements as a coach are. In my opinion, Spartak is not the place where it is worth promoting and promoting unknown specialists,” Gladilin said.

“The club should have its own guys who have already proven their worth and know football well, or coaches who really deliver results. There have already been enough cases when coaches were called for promotion, but left without showing anything significant. There is no point in repeating such mistakes. Personally I would give preference to the Russian,” he added.

Carcedo, 52, has been in charge of the Cypriot football club Paphos since July 2023. The Spaniard previously worked at Spartak in 2012 on Unai Emery’s coaching staff and later helped him in Seville, PSG and Arsenal.

After 18 rounds, Spartak has scored 29 points and is in 6th place in the Russian championship table.
