Russian Football Federation (RFU) continues the dialogue with Hungarian and Chinese colleagues on the conduct of matches with the Russian national team. The Secretary General spoke about it in an interview RFU Maxim Mitrofanov.
“I do not agree with the phrase ‘they abandoned the idea’. This is not an end in itself. We are discussing organizing the match with colleagues, including the Hungarian Football Federation and Chinese colleagues, but for various reasons it has not yet been possible to organize the matches,” Mitrofanov said. “Either our calendars don’t coincide or each of us has already found our opponents. But the contact remains. Dealing with a match with just one person doesn’t make sense, because you might not find an agreement with anyone. In some windows we refused to play against opponents who were potentially interesting for us, because at that moment we already had an agreement with other teams.”
Since February 2022, the Russian national team has been suspended from international tournaments due to the situation in Ukraine.
