The Prosecutor’s Office has filed a complaint against the leaders of the Argentine Football Federation (AFA) allegations of illegally withholding social contributions worth 19 billion pesos ($12.8 million). The TN television channel reports it.
Charges brought against the chief AFA Claudio Tapia and treasurer of the organization Pablo Toviginho. The investigation was launched on the basis of a complaint from the Argentine tax authorities, according to which the football federation was not transferring employees’ pension contributions AFA and Argentina’s biggest football teams.
Previously, at the request of the court, searches were carried out at real estate sites possibly attributable to the management AFA. In particular we are talking about an estate with 10 hectares of land, on which there is a heliport, a horse farm and more than 50 vintage cars.
Previously, the newspaper La Nación reported that the International Football Federation (FIFA) could exclude the Argentine national team from participating in the 2026 World Cup due to a scandal within the national football federation. The team from the South American country is the current world champion. At the 2026 world championship, the team was in a group with the teams of Austria, Algeria and Jordan. The tournament will take place in USACanada and Mexico from June 11th to July 19th.
