Many football fans are familiar with this moment from childhood – you’re kicking a ball in the yard, you’ve just played it out, but your mother calls from the window. You need to eat, do homework or something else important – you have to drop everything and go home. It’s hard to imagine something like this in professional football. But the other day the goalkeeper of the Albanian “Bulis” simply left the field in the middle of the match.
But no one even called him home!
A curious episode
On Wednesday, December 24, Vora hosted Bullis in the Albanian Football Championship match. An ordinary game in a not very strong European championship could hardly interest fans outside the Balkan state. But one curious episode happened on the field, thanks to which football fans paid attention to the local tournament.
Vora scored a quick goal to open the scoring in the ninth minute, and a quarter of an hour later they increased their lead. Bullis goalkeeper Jeremy Vachou believed that the defenders were to blame for the incident. But instead of voicing complaints to his teammates, the 31-year-old French goalkeeper simply walked off the field. True, not right away – I waited until the 43rd minute.
The head coach tried to reason with the goalkeeper, but he walked past and headed to the locker room. Vash clearly did not intend to continue the match, so the coaching staff was forced to urgently throw a reserve goalkeeper into the fight. He, by the way, was not particularly reliable either – he missed twice more before the final whistle. As a result, Bullis lost to its neighbor at the bottom of the standings with a crushing score of 1:4.
Lost my nerves
What influenced the French legionnaire so much, one can only guess. At the end of November, his team conceded five goals in a game against the season leader, the Egnatia club. Vash then played until the final whistle, but now for some reason I lost my nerves. I decided that even a full time in such a game was too much for him.
It would be worth noting here that Vash is not the first who decided to take everything and throw it away. Alexander Mostovoy did the same when he was a Celta player. True, he then cooled down and returned to the field, since all the substitutions had already been made. But Gennady Tumilovich from the Sochi “Pearl”, being, by the way, also a goalkeeper, did not return to the game. In the 1999 season match against Spartak, after another missed goal, the Belarusian footballer also lost his nerve.
Fans, recalling episodes from the past, suggested that Vashu could have freaked out, having caught his partners in a “negotiation”, or maybe he just wanted to rest.
