“Russian football will return as soon as your big boss brings peace” – Hiddink
Former head coach of the Russian national football team Guus Hiddink, in a conversation with Match TV, suggested when Russian teams will be able to return to the international arena.
Earlier, the President of the Russian Football Union (RFU), Alexander Dyukov, expressed hope that next year FIFA and UEFA, in connection with the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), will make a decision that will allow Russian clubs and national teams to take part in international competitions.
— Do you think the Russian national team and Russian clubs can return to international tournaments as early as 2026?
– It’s possible. And we will hope so! After your big boss brings peace,” Hiddink told Match TV.
Russian clubs and national teams have been banned from participating in tournaments under the auspices of UEFA and FIFA since 2022.
