Ex-Liverpool footballer Carroll faces prison sentence for stalking – media
Former Liverpool footballer Andy Carroll could go to prison for breaching a restraining order, The Guardian reports.
According to the source, the athlete is accused of violating a court injunction to harass a certain person, whose name is not specified for legal reasons. The footballer will appear in court on December 30. Punishments for violating this ban range from a fine to imprisonment for up to five years.
Carroll is 36 years old. He played for the French Amiens, Bordeaux, the English Newcastle, Preston, Liverpool, West Ham, Reading and West Bromwich. Carroll has two goals in nine appearances for England.
In the summer, Carroll signed a three-year contract with the Dagenham & Redbridge club, playing in the sixth division of English football. According to Sky Sports, the 36-year-old Englishman has also received a stake in Dagenham & Redbridge, making him a playing co-owner of the club.
