The 16th round match of the German football championship between St. Pauli and Leipzig has been postponed due to weather conditions. This was reported by the Leipzig press service.
The match was supposed to take place on January 10 at the Millerntor stadium. The new date of the meeting will be communicated later.
“The match between St. Pauli and Leipzig has been cancelled. The owner of the Millerntor stadium closed the arena after consulting the local authorities. The reason for the cancellation was the large amount of snow and ice throughout the stadium, the associated safety risks for all participants of the match, as well as the general critical situation in Hamburg,” the statement read.
Leipzig is in 4th place in the German championship standings with 29 points. St. Pauli is in 16th position with 12 points.
