Investigators opened a criminal case under the article on the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements in connection with the mass poisoning of young athletes at the Loo-Arena hotel in Sochi, reports the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee for the Krasnodar Territory.

It is noted that the progress of the investigation of the criminal case by the head of the Russian Investigative Committee for the Krasnodar Territory, Andrei Maslov, has been placed under control in the investigative department.

“Currently, investigators together with specialists from Rospotrebnadzor have selected the necessary samples and sent them for laboratory research. The necessary investigative actions are being carried out in the criminal case aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident, the statement says.

The Investigative Committee clarifies that a group of minor athletes who arrived at the sports training camp, as well as adults, developed symptoms of poisoning, and therefore they were provided with medical assistance. According to available information, there is no threat to their lives and health.

Earlier, the Minister of Sports of the Krasnodar Territory, Serafim Timchenko, told Match TV that four participants in the city rugby competition were poisoned at the Loo-Arena hotel; they were diagnosed with ARVI and an intestinal infection. Later it became known that the players and coaches of the football academy of the Moscow Spartak midfielder Roman Zobnin became victims of poisoning at the Loo Arena; the condition of most of the children is positive. As Zobnin’s wife Ramina reported on social networks, there are 50 representatives of the academy at the hotel.
