In Paris, football fans were banned from gathering on the Champs-Elysees during the quarter-finals of the African Cup of Nations
The Paris police prefecture has banned fan gatherings on the Champs-Élysées for the duration of the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals, reports RMC Sport.
The Paris Prefecture issued a decree on measures in force from January 9 to 11, that is, during the quarter-finals of the African Cup of Nations. From Friday, 15:00 (local time), gatherings of people who call themselves/consider themselves fans of football teams participating in African Cup of Nations matches are prohibited in the restricted area.
This area covers the entire Champs Elysees to the Louvre, as well as Avenue Foch. This measure is in effect until 2:00 am on Sunday.
The use of fireworks and pyrotechnic products is also prohibited in this area.
The following opponents will play in the quarterfinals of the tournament: Mali – Senegal, Egypt – Cote d’Ivoire, Cameroon – Morocco and Algeria – Nigeria.
