Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe thanked former Madrid coach Xabi Alonso for his trust and noted that he was glad to work with him.
On Monday, Real Madrid announced Alonso’s resignation as head coach of the club. The agreement with the 44-year-old specialist was terminated by mutual agreement of the parties. The Spaniard was replaced in the position by his compatriot Alvaro Arbeloa.
“It didn’t last long, but it was a pleasure to play under your leadership and learn from you.” Thank you for instilling confidence from day one. I will remember you as a coach with clear ideas who knows a lot about football. Good luck in the future,” Mbappe wrote on social networks.
Alonso took charge of Real Madrid ahead of the current season. Before the Madrid club, the Spaniard coached Bayer Leverkusen, with whom he became the champion of Germany, winner of the national Cup and Super Cup, and the reserve team of Real Sociedad.
On Sunday, Real Madrid lost to Barcelona (2:3) in the Spanish Super Cup final.
