Ex-head coach of Real Madrid Xabi Alonso, on the eve of leaving the club, was outraged by the actions of Los Blancos striker Kylian Mbappe, The Touchline claims.
Mbappe, after the defeat to Barcelona (2:3) in the final of the Spanish Super Cup, prevented his teammates from building a championship corridor for the Catalans, contrary to the decision of Xabi Alonso. According to the source, Alonso considered this a direct threat to his coaching authority.
On Monday, Real Madrid announced Alonso’s resignation as head coach of the club. The agreement with the 44-year-old specialist was terminated by mutual agreement of the parties. The Spaniard was replaced in the position by his compatriot Alvaro Arbeloa.
Alonso took charge of Real Madrid ahead of the current season. Before the Madrid club, the Spaniard coached Bayer Leverkusen, with whom he became the German champion, winner of the country’s Cup and Super Cup.
