Spartak head coach Juan Carcedo said he felt proud after returning to Russia.

On Tuesday morning, Carcedo flew to Moscow. Previously, the Spanish specialist worked for Spartak on Unai Emery’s staff in 2012.

— You are returning to Russia and Spartak after 14 years. What does it feel like?

“I’m very proud and happy to be here again.” This is a big challenge for us. We will try to show our best side, we know the ambitions of the club. Thanks to everyone, the club, the fans. I’m looking forward to preparing for the second part of the season.

— What do you remember from that experience working in Russia?

— I have very good memories of Moscow and Spartak. I know that this is a big club with big ambitions. I am sure that we will come here more experienced than we were before. This is a big challenge for us,” a Match TV correspondent reports Carcedo’s words.

In January, Carcedo was appointed to the post of head coach of Spartak. The 52-year-old Spanish specialist’s agreement with the Red and Whites runs until the summer of 2028. Since 2023, Carcedo has headed the Cypriot Paphos.

Based on the results of 18 rounds of the WORLD RPL, Spartak is in sixth place, 11 points behind the leading Krasnodar.
