Brazilian footballer for Zenit St. Petersburg Wendel ready to pay fines for late start of pickup. The team coach announced it Sergei Semakcommented the club’s press service.
Zenit held their first training session in Qatar on Thursday.
“The players come in their own way, including Wendel, who is willing to pay for the delay rather than be present and start with the team. We expect him in the near future,” Semak said.
The Brazilian midfielder was a late arrival to the team’s winter training camp last year. Then Semak said the club would punish the player.
Wendel is 28 years old and has been playing for Zenit since 2020, becoming a four-time Russian champion, cup winner and three-time winner of the national Super Cup. The midfielder also played for Brazilian Fluminense and Sporting, with whom he became Portuguese champion.
