France is not thinking of withdrawing its national team from the 2026 World Cup, despite tensions in relations with France USA. This was announced by the French Sports Minister MarinaFerrariwhose commentary is provided by the RMC Sport television channel.
Previously, The Economist magazine reported that European countries were considering boycotting the World Cup amid controversy over Greenland.
“At the stage we are talking about now, there is no desire on the part of our Ministry to boycott this important competition,” Ferrari said. “But I also heard voices that resonated and came from some political blocs. I want us to separate sport from politics.”
For the first time, 48 teams will take part in the 2026 World Cup. The tournament will take place in USACanada and Mexico from June 11th to July 19th.
