Portugal, Ronaldo statue set on fire

An unknown man set fire to the statue of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner and captain of the Portuguese national team Cristiano Ronaldoset in the city of Funchal, on the island of Madeira, where the footballer comes from. The newspaper Correio da Manha reports it.

The accident occurred near the Ronaldo Museum. The man posted a video in which he doused the statue with a flammable liquid and set it on fire. The police are identifying the perpetrator.

Ronaldo is 40 years old, five-time winner of the Champions League, European champion, two-time winner of the Nations League, top scorer in the history of the national teams, the European Championships, the Champions League and the Club World Cup. In December 2022, the footballer moved to Al-Nasr from Saudi Arabia. Throughout his career, the player has also played for Portuguese Sporting, English Manchester United, Italian Juventus and Real Madrid, where he is top scorer.
