President RFS Aleksandr Dyukov shared his thoughts on Spartak’s decision not to boycott the Russian Super Cup. On 9 July the red and white will play against Zenit at the Gazprom Arena.
I know nothing of Spartak’s ability to boycott the Super Bowl game. I have not received official statements or phone calls from the club. We consider what has entered the media space as further warming.
I didn’t believe in the boycott: what should Spartak players boycott? An opportunity to play in a modern arena, the second in Russia for capacity?
We expect participation to be significantly higher than in Nizhny Novgorod or Kazan. It seems to us that more Spartak fans will gather in St. Petersburg than in any other city.
