Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser al-Khelaifi has been acquitted by a Swiss court in a retrial for wrongdoings connected to former FIFA Secretary General Jérôme Valcke, the Associated Press reports.
Al-Khelaifi was again cleared of aggravated incitement charges for allowing Valka to use a house in Sardinia for free. The house was bought in 2013 by a Qatari company.
“The slanderous accusations that have been made over the past years have turned out to be completely unfounded – twice,” Al-Khelaifi’s lawyer, Mark Bonnan, said in a statement.
Valke was convicted on separate charges unrelated to Al-Khelaifi. The Swiss federal criminal court found the French functionary guilty of repeated forgery of documents and passive corruption. He was sentenced to 11 months in prison on probation with a two-year probation period, following the results of the first trial in September 2020, Valke received three months in prison.
Walcke stepped down as FIFA Secretary General in 2015.
