RPL found 3 billion rubles of sponsorship money for the League Cup
The organizers of the Cup of the Russian Premier League have enlisted the support of sponsors who are ready to invest in the tournament a total of about 3 billion rubles a year, RB Sport reports.
In May, the RFU executive committee decided to keep the current RPL format with the participation of 16 teams. At the same time, the issue of creating a new tournament, the League Cup, was discussed. Earlier it was reported that funding for the tournament could not be found, therefore, in order to increase the number of matches under sanctions from UEFA and FIFA, the format of the Russian Cup will be changed.
According to the publication, betting companies are also ready to sponsor the tournament.
The head of the RPL, Ashot Khachaturyants, said in June that a decision on the RPL Cup would be made before the end of June.
