Manchester United’s new head coach Erik ten Hag has ordered that the lawn at the team’s base in Carrington be cut to 15 millimeters, according to the Daily Mail.
The Dutch specialist instructed the staff of the base to maintain the height of the grass at a certain level so that the players could quickly get used to his requirements.
The team will return to training on Monday. According to media reports, ten Hag will assess the overall fitness of the players during the first two days of training, but plans to test the players’ endurance through ball exercises rather than strength work. The coach also wants to keep the team spirit in the Red Devils’ dressing room, so he insists that the players eat together and socialize after practice. Similar demands were put forward by Alex Ferguson, who headed Manchester United for 26 years.
Manchester United finished sixth in the Premier League last season. Since December, Ralf Rangnick managed the team on an interim basis, who left the post at the end of the season. Ten Hag was in charge of Ajax Amsterdam from 2017 to 2022.
