Shirokov considers FIFA’s permission to suspend contracts with RPL teams “outrageous”

Former football player of the Russian national team Roman Shirokov called the decision of the International Football Federation (FIFA) on the legionnaires of the Russian Premier League (RPL), according to which they are allowed to leave the clubs, a lawlessness.

Earlier it became known that FIFA extended the permission for foreign players to suspend contracts with RPL teams until the summer of 2023.

– I don’t think it’s necessary to leave FIFA. It would be more correct not to pay for the transfers that have already taken place for players who are leaving, and to ensure that losses are reimbursed for those who left. FIFA’s decision is chaos, – Shirokov told RB Sport.

On June 24, the Russian Football Union (RFU) and the RPL issued a statement criticizing the said FIFA decision.
