“The departure of Khachaturyants was a complete surprise” – the president of “Torpedo”

Torpedo President Denis Maslov reacted to the departure of Ashot Khachaturyants from the post of president of the Russian Premier League (RPL).
The early termination of the powers of the 54-year-old functionary was approved by the general meeting of the league clubs on Monday. RFU Secretary General Alexander Alaev was elected as acting head of the RPL.
– The departure of Khachaturyants for me was a complete surprise. The RPL clubs had absolutely no information on this subject, although there were various rumors. Even on Sunday, such a step on the part of Ashot Rafailovich could not even be thought of. I don’t know why he made this decision. He simply asked for his resignation, and the clubs supported his request, RT Maslov quotes.
Khachaturyants was appointed Acting President of the RPL on October 5, 2021. On November 22, 2021, the participants in the general meeting of the RPL unanimously approved him in this position for a period of five years.
