Andreas Christensen said goodbye to Chelsea. The Danish centre-back has reached out to the club and fans via social media.
“At 16, I had to make the difficult decision to leave Denmark. I only had one choice and that was Chelsea. From the moment I arrived, I felt at home. I was a young lad at Chelsea with all the hopes and fears of a player starting his career.
After spending ten amazing years at this club, I felt that now is the right time for a new start for me and my family. Psychologically, the last few months have been tough as the decision to leave this club and the fans has not been easy. I’m not the most talkative person, so sometimes people don’t understand how much the club and the fans mean to me. I will miss the players, staff and everyone here. I wish you all the best,” wrote the player.
Christensen is expected to move to Barcelona in the near future. He has been with Chelsea since 2017.
