“Overruns, walls.” Former Spartak player Melkadze told what kind of football coach Garanin puts in Sochi
The requirements of the new coach of FC Sochi, Vadim Garanin, differ from what Vladimir Fedotov asked from the football players of the team, said the club’s striker Georgy Melkadze.
The former club of 51-year-old Garanin was Yenisei from Krasnoyarsk. In the 2021/22 season, Sochi won the RPL silver under the leadership of Fedotov, who moved to CSKA Moscow. Previously, Garanin also worked in Tver.
– While we are getting used to it, because the requirements are slightly different than those of Fedotov. It takes time to get used to and start playing the football that is required. Short passing, constant interactions, runs, walls. It’s great if it immediately starts to bring results. This is the ideal scenario. Not ideal – problems in the first matches, but one way or another you have to get used to it. The new coach makes a good impression. In those clubs where he worked, the team achieved a good result. For Sochi and the RPL, this is something new, ”RB Sport” quotes Melkadze as saying.
In the first match under the leadership of Garanin, Sochi lost on penalties to Zenit in the PARI Premier Cup pre-season tournament. In the next game, the team from the south of Russia will meet with Pari NN on July 1, the meeting will be shown live on the Match and Match Premier channels.
