Rolex watch stolen from ex-Manchester City star on the street
Former Scotland international Willy Donaghy had his Rolex stolen while on holiday in Spain.
The 70-year-old Manchester City legend was knocked to the ground by two men who ripped the watch from his wrist.
The veteran’s family has launched an appeal to return the watch, which they say is one of his most prized possessions. The Rolex watch was given to Donaghy in 1991 when he was an assistant manager at Oldham Athletic after the team had been promoted to the English Premier League.
— My 70-year-old father was robbed. This watch was given to him by Oldham’s sports council when the club was promoted in 1991. It’s a Rolex watch with the inscription: “Thank you Willy for an unforgettable season.” Help if you can,” the veteran’s son wrote on social media.
Willie Donaghy made 35 caps for Scotland and played at the 1978 World Cup in Argentina. He made over 350 appearances for Manchester City between 1968 and 1980 through the youth system.
