The new head coach of Spartak, Guillermo Abascal, spoke about the goals set for him in the Moscow club, and also stated what style of play he plans to practice.

Abascal took charge of Spartak in June, replacing Paolo Vanoli. On Thursday, the Spanish specialist held a press conference.

– Do you have a task for the season?

– Of course, when you come to such a big club, there are goals. My goal is to get better all the time to win every match. Today I think that tomorrow’s training will be better than the last one. The more we talk about goals, the further they will be from us. The more expectations, the more painful it will be from failures, – said Abascal.

Championship? Excellent. Set such a goal. My goal is to make every workout better. We have to win every workout every day. This is achieved through many factors. We must also be prepared for defeat.

– You can train very well, but lose.

– Of course. In football, unlike basketball, you can lose by conceding a random goal, hitting 18 shots, or not scoring a penalty. We must work every day to increase our confidence. Spartak cannot count on luck to decide the outcome of the match.

According to the specialist, the team under his leadership will have to show a dominant game that fans like.

— It takes more time to build a game than to break it. As far as football is concerned, we want to build a dominant game, an aggressive one, which should be liked by everyone – who plays and who watches. It will be an attacking game, we will be closer to the club and the fans. Dominating doesn’t always mean having the ball,” Abascal said.
