German specialist Josef Zinnbauer will become the head coach of Lokomotiv, the team’s press service reports.
Marvin Komper and Zaur Khapov will keep their jobs on the coaching staff.
— We are glad to welcome Josef Zinnbauer to our team. As we planned, Lokomotiv is strengthening the coaching staff with a specialist with good experience in various championships. When inviting Josef, we also took into account that he has serious experience in working with youth and shares the principles of the game that we want to see played by Lokomotiv.
This appointment will not affect the work of Marvin Compper and his role at the club, he continues to prepare the team for matches, and also deals with the issue of obtaining a PRO license. As for Zaur Khapov, we are grateful to him for his work as head coach in the second half of last season. He will also continue to work on the coaching staff,” Lokomotiv sports director Thomas Zorn commented on the appointment.
Zinnbauer, 52, played as a midfielder for a number of German teams such as Karlsruhe and Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga when he was a player. As a coach, he led the youth teams of the Karlsruhe and Hamburg football clubs. He headed the basis of the latter in 2014.
Since 2015, he has been the head coach of the Swiss St. Gallen, and in 2019 he headed the South African Orlando Pirates, which twice became the bronze medalist of the South African Premier League and won the Cup of Eight (a tournament in which the 8 best teams in the league take part).
