Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo’s private jet was delayed in Spain on Friday for half an hour due to a conflict between the Portuguese’s bodyguard and airport staff, Mirror reports.

The incident took place on the island of Menorca. While going through VIP checks, Ronaldo’s escort didn’t like being stopped by a scanner at the airport. The bodyguard gesticulated violently and, in a fit of rage, declared that he was a police officer in Portugal, inviting opponents to “call whoever they want.” An altercation with airport officials led to police intervention and a £20 million flight delay.

Ronaldo witnessed the incident, but did not intervene in the conflict. The 37-year-old is expected to return to Manchester on Monday to begin pre-season training with Manchester United.
