Fiorentina striker Alexander Kokorin intends to continue his career in the Italian club, despite the interest from Russian teams, said the player’s representative Timofey Berdyshev.

Kokorin has been playing for Fiorentina since January 2021. Last season, the 31-year-old forward took part in seven matches and did not score any goals.

— Does Sasha have offers from Russia? Yes, I do not deny it. Some Russian clubs called me to get information about Kokorin, but at the moment the situation is [связанная с событиями на Украине], of course, does not allow us to evaluate transfers of this kind. In addition, Sasha still wants to stay at Fiorentina. He wants to feel useful, this is his priority at the moment,” said Berdyshev, quoted by FirenzeViola.

Berdyshev also said that he did not have information, which is why the Russian rarely entered the field as part of Fiorentina in official matches.

– To be honest, I don’t know what problems prevented him from playing constantly, but I can say that all this in no way changed his relationship with the club and the city. Sasha hopes that next year he will be able to play more and be useful to the team. He only thinks about scoring goals and nothing else.

The only thing I can say is that, of course, the severe injury that he received at the beginning of his journey in Florence (injury received in the match against Roma on March 3, 2021 – ed.) has greatly affected him: it was a long and painful break. However, I cannot explain why Sasha played so little last year. There are no disagreements on our part: Kokorin is a serious professional, and in this case he proved it once again. The only thing I hope for is that now he can get the opportunity to play, – said the representative of Kokorin.

Berdyshev said that he had not discussed with the leadership of the Italian club the possible termination of the striker’s agreement.

No one from the club contacted me about this. The player never told me about it, so I don’t think it’s possible at the moment,” he added.
