Ex-midfielder of Moscow CSKA Evgeny Aldonin believes that Yuri Zhirkov should decide for himself where he will finish playing, and also assessed the level of the Media League.

On July 2, 38-year-old Zhirkov said in an interview with Match TV that he did not rule out ending his career in the near future. He also said that he could play in the Medialiga.

– Should Zhirkov play out in the First League? Or is it small for a titled football player?

– He has the right to decide for himself where he will play out: in the First League or in the Premier League. It’s not for me to give him advice. If he feels in himself the strength and opportunity to continue his career, then God bless him.

— The midfielder mentioned the Medialiga. Can this tournament compete in popularity with the Russian Championship in the future?

– In our inverted time, anything can happen. Here you need to take into account the popularity of bloggers. The media league cannot match the sporting level. As for popularity, I don’t know. But I don’t think so. If we take the RPL, then the interest may be similar. But if you consider all aspects of football and the community as a whole, then there will be no competition. Big football has an advantage by a margin, – Aldonin said in an interview with the correspondent of Sport Day by Day.

From January 12 to July 1, Zhirkov played for Khimki, for which he played three matches. Previously, he played for CSKA Moscow and Dynamo, Anzhi Makhachkala, Zenit St. Petersburg and Chelsea London.
