English Football Club Forest Green Rovers announced about a new environmental initiative using fan excrement.

The club’s management said that special equipment will be installed in the toilets at the team’s stadium to clean the urine of fans. The liquid is then converted into fertilizer, which will then be used to keep football fields in good condition.

The director of the Dutch company Nijhuis Saur Industries, Ian Stentiford, explained that the concept of the system is based on space technology, in which three streams of wastewater – from washing hands, urinals and toilets, are converted into compost, fertilizers, irrigation water and flushing water.

Forest Green Rovers director Henry Steylens said that the club is moving towards the First League, which means that in the future it will see an increase in the number of fans.

“The technology proposed by the Dutch company will help strengthen our image as the greenest football club on the planet,” he concluded.

The team currently plays in League 1, the third most important division in the English football league system.

Forest Green Rovers is known as the world’s first vegan club. Teams do not sell products from animal meat and fish at matches.
