CSKA General Director Roman Babaeva spoke on the air of the Match TV channel about the steps that the club will take against the backdrop of the suspension of contracts by forward Chidera Ejuke and midfielder Arnor Sigurdsson.
— Ejuke has suspended the contract, we are disappointed. Despite all the efforts that the club made, it happened. We do not agree with this decision, but formally Ejuke had the right to do so.
We plan to appeal this decision. We believe that this is unjustified enrichment, we lost 25% of the contract amount. Chidera tried to explain that he wants to try his hand in Europe, but we understand that if there were no option, these conversations would not have happened.
With Sigurdsson, the situation is the same, the footballer initially indicated a desire to stay in Europe. In his case, we would look for a rental option. It is unfortunate that two players took advantage of this option, but it was expected. We know who was the initiator,” Babayev said.
Both foreign players will spend the 2022/23 season in other teams, they took advantage of the FIFA amendment, which allows them to suspend the contract with the club until June 30, 2023 unilaterally.
The contracts of 24-year-old Ejuke and 23-year-old Sigurdsson with CSKA are calculated until the summer of 2024.
On July 4, CSKA will play with PARI NN at the PARI Premier Cup, watch the live broadcast of the match in these minutes on the Match TV channel and the matchtv.ru website.
