You should not make a sensation out of the transition to the St. Petersburg “Zenith” of the ex-midfielder of the Moscow “Spartak” Zelimkhan Bakaev, said the honored coach of Russia Igor Kolyvanov.

The Red-Whites announced Bakaev’s departure on June 1. Two weeks later, the graduate of Spartak signed a contract with Zenit as a free agent. The agreement is for three years with the possibility of extension for another season.

– Well, he left and left Spartak. He hadn’t done much for the team before. Was he one of the best players? Or gave 11 passes and scored 10 goals? He just played, stood out a little sometimes. But he has never been a team leader, and there is no need to invent a wheel here: he moved and moved. And the fact that Spartak did not offer him what Zenit offered, then maybe he just does not have such opportunities for this. And so, Bakaev is a professional, of course, and now let him prove at Zenit what kind of player he is, ”Kolyvanov told Match TV.

Bakaev has been playing for the main team of Spartak since 2015. In total, the 26-year-old midfielder played 105 games for the Red-and-Whites, scored 11 goals and made 29 assists.
