Head of the selection board RFS Pavel Kamantsev said if the referees would continue to undergo a polygraph test.
We will continue the practice of inspections, if there are reasons for this. At the same time, I want everyone to understand: none of us are fans of checks. I myself dream that everyone judged well and there were no voices, voices and signals. It would be great if we just nominate match referees, give them bonuses, and raise salaries. But in situations where the problem of moral and ethical violations arises, we must respond.
We have a clear procedure, of which the polygraph is a part, but this is not mandatory. There were always checks, we try to do them calmly. This is one of the foundations for increasing the confidence of clubs and fans. If we stop checking and just trust it, it will probably be wrong. Quality control is available in all countries of the world. The question of prejudice exists absolutely everywhere. There is no magical way to get a 100% result to tell if it’s just a mistake or a bias.
We are already using other tools. A whole arsenal of tools: analysis of the state of the property, analysis of a match and a number of other games, analysis of conflicts of interest and so on. We carry out the widest checks on everyone, we try to act proactively so that the conditions for ethical violations do not occur. We are trying to be proactive.
But I hope there will be no more such situations. We are deeply uncomfortable with them.
