Former head coach of Lokomotiv Yuri Semin believes that amateur teams have the right to play in the Russian Cup, but should start their journey from an early stage of the tournament.
Earlier, the acting president of the Russian Premier League (RPL), Alexander Alaev, said that the winner of the Medialiga and the Amkal team could receive a wild card to participate in the next Russian Cup.
– I don’t understand, the Russian Cup is a professional tournament. What about amateur football? There were also Second League teams in the Russian Cup – they have the right to participate. Amateur teams should also start then from some first stage. It’s OK! Let them play,” said Semin “Championship”.
