Real Madrid’s women’s team have refused to sign Zambian striker Barbra Banda after failing a gender test. OK Diario.
On June 23, Banda underwent a medical examination at the club in order to sign a contract for the next season, but a high level of testosterone was probably found in the blood of a 22-year-old athlete.
This week, the African Confederation of Football (CAF) banned Banda from the African Cup due to doubts about her status as a woman. In an official statement from CAF, it is reported that the player has been suspended “for medical reasons.”
Band previously played in Spain for Logroño where she scored 16 goals and provided 10 assists. She later signed with China’s Shanghai Shengli, recording 22 goals in 24 games. She also participated in the Tokyo Olympics with her national team, becoming the tournament’s second-highest scorer with six goals in three games.
