Former football player of the Moscow “Spartak” Yevgeny Bushmanov said that he was on the list of candidates for the post of head coach of the “red-whites”.

In June, Spartak announced the appointment of 33-year-old Spaniard Guillermo Abascal as head coach. He replaced the Italian Paolo Vanoli. In July, Luca Cattani left the post of sports director of the club.

– I understood that such a possibility exists, albeit a small one. I was ready for it, absolutely. Plus, there was information that Cattani’s list of 8-10 foreign and Russian coaches also included my name. What number, I can’t say. There were some thoughts on this matter, but they decided the way they decided. It’s okay, we need to move on. There is a desire to work. There were options in the First League, but has not yet made a decision for himself about a new team, – said the 50-year-old Bushmanov “Championship”.

In the 2021/22 season, Bushmanov worked as the head coach of Spartak-2. In May, Spartak announced the closure of the second team.
