Juventus Turin defender Matthijs de Ligt has moved to Bayern Munich, according to the website of the German football club.

The Dutch player has signed a contract until 30 June 2027. According to media reports, the 22-year-old footballer cost Bayern 70 million euros. Another 10 million Juventus can receive as bonuses.

– Matthijs de Ligt impresses not only with his playing qualities at the highest level, but also with the fact that this guy was a leader in all teams. He learned to take responsibility at a young age. A strong team needs more than just a strong attack and with this transfer we are strengthening our defense at the absolute highest level,” said Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn.

De Ligt, in turn, noted that he was bribed by the desire of the leadership and coach of Bayern, Julian Nagelsmann, to sign a contract with him.

“I am very happy to be a player of this great club. Bayern is the most successful club in Germany, one of the most successful clubs in Europe and the world. From the very beginning, I felt sincere support from the sports management, the coach, as well as the board of directors, and this convinced me. I am glad that now I will be a part of the history of the Bayern football club,” said de Ligt.

De Ligt is a graduate of Ajax Amsterdam. The defender has played for Juventus since 2019, played 117 matches for the team, scored eight goals, became the champion of Italy and the owner of the country’s Cup. He has two goals in 38 matches for the Netherlands national team.
