Igor not only kept the gate intact in the match against Sochi, but also helped CSKA to excel.
CSKA captain Igor Akinfeev continues to collect crackers at the beginning of the new football season. The goalkeeper of the army team is unlikely to surprise anyone with a reliable game at the last line – over a long career, he has long proved everything to everyone in this component. Now, an experienced footballer has discovered a new talent in himself.
He is useful in attack.
The former coach was not surprised
The match between CSKA and Sochi in Moscow was one of the most anticipated events in the second round of the Russian Football Championship. The current vice-champion of the country played against the team of his former coach, who just led the southerners to silver medals. The Sochi residents failed to surprise Fedotov – they could not catch points and even score, while missing three times.
One of the main characters of the meeting was the goalkeeper of the army Igor Akinfeev, who was noted not only for a reliable game at the last frontier, but also participated in the goal attack of the Muscovites. In the 56th minute, the goalkeeper made a long and, more importantly, targeted pass. The ball reached Jorge Carrascal, who got rid of the guardianship of Sergei Terekhov, entered the penalty area, ignored the gaping Igor Yurganov and beat Sochi goalkeeper Denis Adamov in close combat.

For CSKA, the ball was the second in the game, for Carrascal – the second of the season. As for Akinfeev, the captain of the army did not indulge the public with effective actions for more than a decade. The last time Igor scored an assist was in 2010 in a game against Terek Grozny (now Akhmat). In total, for a long career, the former goalkeeper of the Russian national team assisted partners eight times in official matches.
It should be noted that over the previous season, all the goalkeepers of the Premier League, by common efforts, were honored with one assist. Its author was Dynamo Anton Shunin in the game against Akhmat. Thus, the fans at the VEB Arena witnessed a truly rare football event.
