Ex-player of Serie A told how a football player was expelled from the club for a goal against Italy
Former Perugia defender Rahman Rezai revealed that in 2002 then club president Luciano Gaucci turned down Korean player Ahn Jong Hwan after he scored the winning goal in the 2002 World Cup play-off match against Italy (2 :one). The goal came in extra time.
The President got angry then. Ahn scored in that match with referee errors. An just did what he had to do. Gauucci did not behave very nicely in that story, – Iposticipo.it quotes Rezai.
The Korean team at the 2002 World Cup also knocked out the Spanish team in the playoffs, and lost to Germany in the semi-finals.
