“Footballers come to Russia to earn money, not to play football.” Nigmatullin on the situation with Varela

Former goalkeeper of the Russian national team Ruslan Nigmatullin, commenting on the situation with Dynamo defender Guillermo Varela, said that legionnaires come to the RPL only for big contracts.

On Sunday, Match TV reported that the Uruguayan left the Dynamo location and flew out of Russia, despite the current agreement. In their statement, the “white-blue” noted that they consider the player’s actions as a violation of contractual obligations.

– How do you assess the act of Varela, who escaped from Dynamo?

– I am extremely negative about Varela’s act. After such an act, how to put him in the composition at all? This is a clear betrayal. Knocking out a contract in this way is fatter … Now, thanks to these sanctions that came from FIFA, the players are simply twisting the arms of football clubs, and this, of course, is unfair to Russian football, Russian sports.

Football clubs should also show their principled positions. We need to fight this situation, and, let’s say, look less to the West in search of players. Because football players come to Russia only to earn money and in no case for football. Such situations are now in every team. Only Zenit manages to hold on, but at the expense, I think, of large contracts, which the players are unlikely to receive in other teams. In our other Russian clubs, there is no such difference in wages, and therefore they use these tricks and, thanks to the fact that they get jobs as free agents, get some good conditions in other teams and simply throw their employers with whom they are connected by contracts.

– Does the departure of legionnaires at the start of the season catch your eye?

– That’s what, but there is no desire to remember the departure of legionnaires and say that they decorate the championship. See how many goals were scored bright goals and without the participation of foreign players. Yes, they also took part in this tour, but you definitely shouldn’t be upset about the departure of legionnaires. Legionnaires often appear in our championship not because the teams want to strengthen themselves. It’s more of a football business, dealing with transfers, transfers of players and the funds that facilitate the transition. Often the players who come are not stronger than ours. I want the business to move towards the development of Russian football players and we need to look for opportunities for interested parties – football functionaries to be able to make money on Russian football players, – Nigmatullin quotes “Sport day after day”.
