Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has spoken out about criticism of newcomer Darwin Nunez.
The Uruguayan striker has come under fire on social media after failing to score in his first two matches for the team in preparation for the new season.
“It doesn’t make sense to think that he will be at his best in just three days of training, we need time to get used to each other and that’s completely normal. He needed time to adapt. He didn’t score in the first two games, 50 minutes each, and was immediately criticized. We live in a crazy world. Then he scores four goals in one game and the discussion is completely opposite.
An attacker with his characteristics needs time, because here everything is different from what he had before. We play differently than Benfica. So both sides have to adapt,” Klopp said.
Nunes moved to Liverpool in mid-June. The transfer amount is estimated at 75 million euros. The agreement provides for the payment of additional remuneration, the total amount of the transaction may reach 100 million rubles.
