Opponents beat the footballer to death right on the field. Relatives don’t have money for funerals

A controversial refereeing decision provoked a massive brawl involving players and fans. It all ended tragically.

Emotional charge for the result is one of the factors that helps football players achieve victories during matches. It does not matter the level of the tournament. Emotions are just as important in the Champions League games as they are in the sixth division.

But excessive display of emotions often leads to skirmishes and fights right on the field. It’s good when brawls end with just the distribution of cards to the guilty. It is much worse when, after such a clarification of the relationship, there are victims.

Killed several people

A private league football game played on the field at Oxnard High School in California two weeks ago ended in tragedy. In one of the game episodes, a conflict arose between the two teams and their fans, which escalated into a fight. The trigger for all this disgrace was the decision of the judge, which caused discontent of one of the parties.

As a result of the mass brawl, 29-year-old Misael Sanchez suffered the most. The player was the victim of a simultaneous attack by several people at once. The player had no chance to resist their blows. He lost consciousness and fell on the field, where he lay before the arrival of doctors. By the time an ambulance arrived on the scene, Sanchez was no longer breathing. The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

– The fight happened when the players disagreed with the referee’s decision. Sanchez was playing on the field when the fight started. During the fight, the football player was attacked by several participants in the brawl, Oxnard police said.

For more than two weeks, doctors fought for his life, but they failed to save Misael. On July 25, the Oxnard Police Department announced the player’s death on its official website.

– The football player, hospitalized after a fight on the field, has died. Misael Sanchez, a 29-year-old resident of Port Huene, died 15 days after being involved in a mass brawl involving players from both teams and spectators. Sanchez died in the early hours of Monday, July 25. An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday, July 26 to determine the cause of death, a law enforcement press release said.

“Our family is heartbroken”

For relatives, the unexpected death of a football player in the prime of life was a real blow. The difficult financial situation forced them to announce a fundraiser for the funeral.

“Our family is heartbroken and still in disbelief as we expected a bright future for him,” relatives of the deceased player wrote on the GoFundMe platform.

During the investigation, the police quickly identified the suspect. Soon a 46-year-old resident of American Berlin, Jose Melgar, was arrested. He has already been charged with a felony in connection with the beating that led to Sanchez’s death. But the prosecutor’s office returned the case for further investigation. At the moment, the investigation believes that there may be several responsible for the death of the athlete.

The police are now investigating all the details of what happened. They have yet to figure out what exactly caused the death of the 29-year-old football player.

“An autopsy will really help us determine if criminal behavior has taken place. We understand that there was a fight on the field. We understand that the victim was involved in a fight. But we can’t yet say for sure that the fight led to the death of the victim, ”said Alex Arnett, head of the police department, about the progress of the investigation.

In the near future, new details are expected to appear in the Sanchez case. The results of the autopsy will help investigators better understand the causes of the player’s death on the football field.

The RFU hopes FIFA will listen to the IOC’s position on youth teams

Russian Football Federation (RFU) hopes that the International Football Federation (FIFA) will follow the recommendation of the International Olympic Committee (THAT IS) subject to the admission of youth teams. The Secretary General spoke about it in an interview RFU Maxim Mitrofanov.

In December THAT IS recommended removing all restrictions for young Russian athletes and allowing them to participate in all competitions with the anthem and flag.

“This recommendation has become an important event for all Russian sports. We see that in many sports international federations are making decisions on the admission of our athletes,” Mitrofanov said. “And there are more and more such decisions.” Recommendation THAT IS plays an important role in this process. Let’s proceed from the fact that FIFA this recommendation will be heeded.”

“At the same time, it is important to understand that the popularity and attention, including at the state and political level, towards different sports in Europe are different. The large international basketball, hockey and football federations are more careful in analyzing the decisions they make. They probably already realized that they have overdone it in 2022. Now it is even more difficult for them to get out of this situation, also because they are afraid of facing the position of a large number of countries which, at the state level, will hinder the implementation decisions about our return,” Mitrofanov added.

Russian clubs and national teams have been suspended from international tournaments due to the situation in Ukraine.

Mitrofanov positively assessed Dzyuba’s invitation to the Russian national team in 2025

Invitation from the Togliatti Akron striker Artem Dziuba joining the Russian national football team was a positive event. This opinion was expressed in an interview by the general secretary of the Russian Football Federation (RFU) Maxim Mitrofanov.

In March Dzyuba scored against the Grenada team (5:0) and passed Alexandra Kerzakova in terms of goals for the Russian national team, he scored 31 goals.

“I rate it positively [приглашение Дзюбы в сборную]. I think it was a good decision by our coach [Валерия Карпина]Mitrofanov said. “The footballer deserves this opportunity. I am quite relaxed in counting records, but for the players and fans this plays a role. It is also important that the coach allowed the player to prove himself, showing that he had no conflict with Artem.”

“He is a good guy and a good footballer and he took the story very positively. He managed to score, it was clear from Artem’s emotions that he really wanted it,” Mitrofanov added.

In December Kerzhakov announced on his Telegram channel that he had sent a request to the International Football Federation (FIFA) about the authorship of the second goal of the Russian team in the friendly match against the German team on June 8, 2005 (2:2). If RFU admits that the goal was not scored Andrei Arshavinand Kerzhakov, then he will again share first place with Dzyuba.
